Narrative Essay PAGE1 My name is J. I’m going to tell you about something very frightening that happened to me. It all started with me and a few of my friends. I got a call around ten o’clock on a Saturday night. It was my friend Aaron, who wanted to know if I was going out. I told him that I had been planning to go to Club South Beach. This club is located at 5 Dove St. on Hilton Head Island. We met up inside the club at half past eleven. Then Aaron’s older brother Sheldon showed up. We started to drink a bit, dance, and have fun. You know the type of things that should be done at a dance club. Sheldon and I were not drunk but Aaron was buzzing at bit. This created a problem because when Aaron gets drunk he tends to enjoy fighting. It was around one o’clock when my cell phone rang. It was my best friend Isaac. He told me to bring myself, Aaron, and Sheldon to Club Life. This club was just around the corner so it was no problem to go there, so we did. Isaac was there with Chelesy, Vicki, Karen, Beau and a few of our other friends. We all started dancing, drinking and just having fun there. Aaron was not always dancing in the little group that we formed though. He seemed to be making his way around the club dancing with all the other ladies. Then out of nowhere a catfight* broke out. It was a pretty nasty one. The two girls were fighting like grown men, with PAGE 2 their fists balled up. *A catfight is two ladies fighting. It was around 1:45 when the DJ said last call. We quickly went to the bar so we could all have a Red-Headed-Slut*. Then all of us proceeded to make our way out the door to exit the club. We stood out side the club for a while then we went to the end of the walkway to talk in one large group. We were about five minutes into a group discussion when two Mexicans in an old Cammaro pulled up. They were obviously drunk... Aerospace Psychology 1. The complicated task of piloting an aircraft can be broken into two broad categories. The first is keeping the aircraft flying. The second is arriving at a given destination. The second is always being effected by the first. Unlike a car, small deviation in course can over great distances cause the aircraft to arrive hundreds of miles from the target destination. To successfully accomplish the task, safe arrival, the larger tasks can be sub-divided into three categories. The first is the Procedural Tasks. These are the maintenance task that must be accomplished every time in a certain way at a certain time, i.e. take off and landing checklists. The next is Decision and Judgement Tasks. Problem solving is another way to look at it. The crew will react based on past experience to a given situation. The last is Communications and Resource Management. This is how the crew communicates with each other while problem solving, either poorly or well. 2. The pilot uses visual cues such as rate of flow of texture outward from or convergence of parallel linear features to visually fly the aircraft. Estimates of speed are derived from global optic flow (GOL). This is the rate that texture flows over the optical area. This can be effected by elevation, at higher elevations underestimation of true speed will occur. Approach path distortions occur when there is a slope before the landing strip or other visual features such as dwarfed trees. The human eye is not designed for conditions found in flight. Planes that are a collision course have no apparent movement to them. This takes the natural attraction to movement out of play. Because of the lack of visual stimulation the eye will focus only a few meters in front, so distant objects are unfocused. The scanning of instruments provides a source of input that allows the pilot to visualize the position of aircraft in flight. The novice pilot will scan all the instruments in a given pattern . While the experienced pilot will look at all the instrument that will give them feedback on the action that occurred. Of the main instrument the most useful is the attitude direction indicator (ADI). This is the instrument most referred and the one that most novice pilot will get fixated with. It is also the only one that resembles an aircraft and provides information in a format other than an analog circular dial.

Statistical Definitions-The Same standards or norms are not relevant to all social groups/ ages/cultures for example in terms of anxiety. Children have more irrational fears than adults. Deviation from social norms Social norms are behaviours that are desirable for both the individual and society as a whole. Deviance from social norms is both undesirable and abnormal. Most mentally Ill people do behave in a socially deviant way but this doesn’t mean that you can base clinical abnormality on this theory alone. Moral standards-social norms change over time and basing mental illness on deviation from social norms is dangerous. Context-for example, wearing few items of clothing on the beach is acceptable, on the high street it is not. Sub Cultures-for example in the Mormon religion it is acceptable to have several wives. In England that is a crime called bigamy Good/Bad-in some certain circumstances being socially deviant is a good thing for example in Nazi Germany people who were opposed to Nazism were socially deviant. Collectivistic cultures-cultures which emphasise the greater good of the community rather than focusing on individual achievement would not find the first three characteristics relevant. Difficult-most people would have difficulty fitting all these criteria at most times in their lives. Cultural relativism A limitation to all ways of defining abnormality is that no definition is relevant to all cultures. Also cultures definitions change over time.
